In my opinion, this quote is a reflection of today's society.
On one hand, people these days are only interested in material assets. Everything revolves around money and around what an individual has. Those kind of things determine your status, what you wear, what car you drive, how big your house is and so on. Everyone thinks they can put a price and a label on everything and anyone.
On the other hand, even though everyone thinks they know the value of everything, there are a few people who truly know what the word value means and how everything works. No matter how much money you have or how popular and successful you are, until you learn to appreciate what you have and the people around you, you will keep running in circles, being prey to this world we live in.
In conclusion, the quote "Nowadays people know the price of everything and the value of nothing", as sadly as it may be, shows just how our society works.
