A situation in which I've been would be, choosing between two friends. In a situation like this you should always choose no one because you will lose the other one if you chose X over Y and that is not good, rather try to choose no one until they get fed up and won't care about who your choosing, if they don't get fed up then simply tell them that you choose no one over X or Y and walk home, they will be sad for a period or in worst cases, they won't talk to you anymore but it's all good because there are enough people to meet on this Planet.
